Aquarium La Rochelle

In May, I went on a cruise on board the P&O Oriana. One of the ports we visited was the beautiful
French city of La Rochelle, located on the Southwestern coast of France.  Due to it's size we docked in a near by port, so there was a 30 minute bus ride into La Rochelle. The shuttle dropped us off in the Old Harbour, La Rochelle's main feature, which is located at the heart of the city.

As we approached the drop off point I noticed the two Harbour Towers which framed a beautiful view out into the Bay of Biscay. On closer inspection I saw some kids being towed out in their Oppies for a morning sail, this reminded me of my teaching days when I was younger.

I spent my morning wandering around the town, taking in in the culture and even managed to find the local market which lined the streets of the town, full of local fresh produce, fruit and veg. I loved this, watching the locals with their wicker baskets, and the idea of being able to go shopping for fresh food each day.
