Southampton has the Hollywood treatment

I finally made it to my first blogging event and it was attending the Hollywood Bowl VIP event in
Southampton. I was very nervous about going, not knowing what to expect or who I was going to meet, but the whole evening was a great success.

The evening started off by being welcomed by a Marilyn Monroe impersonator who had the look down to a tee, and she brought a great Hollywood feel to the entire event. I picked up my welcome pack and drink before heading off to the VIP section to meet the other bloggers.
The interior of the new Hollywood Bowl is wonderful, fresh and attractive to all ages. They have some of the classic arcade games, an American diner, a bar next to the bowling alleys and two VIP sections for those private parties or team builds.

One of the VIP alleys

We all played a game of bowling in one of the VIP sections, while being treated to some of the delights they serve in the American diner. I was determined to prove to everyone how bad I was at bowling and I did exactly that, by coming in last! As the night went on Marilyn did an official opening and ribbon cutting. They got everyone involved in the photos and it was a great way to open the alley.

Once we had finished our game of bowling we all went over to explore the arcade games. These games have become more high tech these days with a swipe card instead of coins but that makes it so much easier!

The whole night was a great success and will definitely be going back to have a few games. I would just like to thank the whole team at Hollywood Bowl in Southampton for the invite and the wonderful night.

Norwegian Fjords 2015

A while back I said I would post something about the cruise I went on back in June 2015 but alas nothing was posted - sorry!

As I didn't do anything back then, I thought I would write something about it now as I am on a roll...

Day trip to Valletta, Malta

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you will have seen that I have recently been cruising around the Med on board Cunard Queen Victoria, and if not then head over there to catch up.

My first port of call was the stunning Valletta, Malta.

The ship docked early morning, which allowed us to enjoy breakfast with views of Malta's Grand Harbour as the sun rose. It was just a 20 minute walk from the ship to the centre of Velletta but being at sea level there was a long way up to reach the same level as most of the city. Luckily since my last visit 4 years ago, they have installed a lift to take you up to the Botanic Gardens. This is ideal for someone with limited mobility, like my mother.

Once you are at the top of the lift you have more impressive views across the entrance of the Grand Harbour, and if your not scared of heights, unlike me, you can stand at the edge just as you come out of the lift and take in the views below. From here you are on the correct level for the res…

Thailand and Vietnam adventure - Chiang Mai

As I write this I am on a sleeper bus to Sapa, Vietnam to explore the rice fields. I felt this was a perfect time to reflect on the first part of my adventure because I do have 6 hours of travelling ahead of me and I can’t sleep!
This adventure was created off the back of wanting to go visit my brother who has lived in Bangkok for the last four years and not once have I made it out here in that time. With his departure from Thailand next year it was the last chance I would have to go. So over a lunch catch up with a friend I mentioned my plan and before the day was up she had already started looking into it - I had not actually asked her directly to come but secretly I hoped she would maybe take the hint because I couldn’t have done this without her.
Due to the time of year, weather and my brother’s other plans for his month off we chose to meet up with him in Chiang Mai. His adventure would take him onto Pai and ours would continue to Vietnam and then back to Bangkok to finish.
Stage…
