2017 Goals

Happy New Year everyone!

As it is already the second day of 2017, I thought I better start to think about what I want to get out of this year. I am determined to make something of this blog and myself in the next 12 months!

2017 is starting off with another huge change in my life, but a happier one to last year. My husband is starting a new job, which is going to have him away from home up to 12 weeks at a time. This is going to be a massive adjustment for me, and of course him, because I am so used to having him around and someone in the house. Also I will miss him!

Although there are a few down sides to the new role, one of the main up sides is the opportunities it opens up for me. It is going to give me a chance to grow more as a person because I will not have any excuse now. I will have to drive myself places! Most importantly though I will be able to do a lot more traveling and have more adventures. This all in turn helps with the blog! Hopefully all of this will help make 2017 one of the best years in a while!

While on the subject of adventures and making the most of 2017. This leads nicely into my goals for the next 12 months, both blog related and personal. 2017 for me is going to be the year I really want to start working on it and getting myself out there, because my husbands new role was another reason for setting the blog up in 2016.  I thought it would be a good use of my evening - after I have been to the gym! - and it would give me something to concentrate on and hopefully give lots of opportunities to meet new people.

With all this in mind here are my blog and personal goals for 2017:

  • Become healthier (and lose weight)
  • Go to the gym 3 times a week at a minimum
  • Be able to do a hand/head stand
  • Be more positive and confident (Stop using the word hopefully after this post!)
I will review all of the goals on June 5th, to see if I am still sticking to them and adjust any as required.

So this just leaves me to pack for my first adventure of 2017, which is a trip back home to Cardiff!

  1. Well if you fancy an adventure.. you are always welcome to come and see us up in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.... maybe climb a hill or two too... x

    1. Thank you for the offer I will keep it in mind :)

  2. Good luck on your 2017 adventures, goals and dreams. I can't wait to see your adventures throughout the year!

Norwegian Fjords 2015

A while back I said I would post something about the cruise I went on back in June 2015 but alas nothing was posted - sorry!

As I didn't do anything back then, I thought I would write something about it now as I am on a roll...

Thailand and Vietnam adventure - Chiang Mai

As I write this I am on a sleeper bus to Sapa, Vietnam to explore the rice fields. I felt this was a perfect time to reflect on the first part of my adventure because I do have 6 hours of travelling ahead of me and I can’t sleep!
This adventure was created off the back of wanting to go visit my brother who has lived in Bangkok for the last four years and not once have I made it out here in that time. With his departure from Thailand next year it was the last chance I would have to go. So over a lunch catch up with a friend I mentioned my plan and before the day was up she had already started looking into it - I had not actually asked her directly to come but secretly I hoped she would maybe take the hint because I couldn’t have done this without her.
Due to the time of year, weather and my brother’s other plans for his month off we chose to meet up with him in Chiang Mai. His adventure would take him onto Pai and ours would continue to Vietnam and then back to Bangkok to finish.

Day trip to Valletta, Malta

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you will have seen that I have recently been cruising around the Med on board Cunard Queen Victoria, and if not then head over there to catch up.

My first port of call was the stunning Valletta, Malta.

The ship docked early morning, which allowed us to enjoy breakfast with views of Malta's Grand Harbour as the sun rose. It was just a 20 minute walk from the ship to the centre of Velletta but being at sea level there was a long way up to reach the same level as most of the city. Luckily since my last visit 4 years ago, they have installed a lift to take you up to the Botanic Gardens. This is ideal for someone with limited mobility, like my mother.

Once you are at the top of the lift you have more impressive views across the entrance of the Grand Harbour, and if your not scared of heights, unlike me, you can stand at the edge just as you come out of the lift and take in the views below. From here you are on the correct level for the res…
