December Snapshot

Wow, is it really the end of December already!?! This can mean only one snapshot of December from Instagram and it is the end of 2016!

What a year 2016 has been and for some not a good one, but I am looking forward to the new adventures that await me in 2017 and hope that it is a better year. You can read about my year and the things that have gone on here.

This month I have managed to progress a little further in my Instagram following - thank you! Also remember you can also find me on Twitter and Facebook.

So without further a do here is a look at what has been going on...

  • I got a new watch from Kapten & Son after several months of looking and I love it to pieces!
  • Took a day trip to Longleat - the festival of light was amazing! Read about it here and photos are on my Facebook page
  • Tried the new Thai restaurant Thaikhun, in the new Westquay Watermark
  • Came home to a new Christmas decoration from my husband!
  • A Saltrock shop opened in Southampton! This means that I don't have to go to Portsmouth now to have a look
  • Farr family Christmas in Cardiff. This was a special one this year because it was the first without my dad but it was so nice to have so many of the family around the same table
  • Tried Bills for breakfast and I had the most amazing pancakes! Another restaurant in Westquay Watermark
  • Tried Byron on Christmas eve - again one of the new restaurant in Westquay Watermark
  • Finally there was the main event, Christmas. This year my mum came down, so she was able to get away from Cardiff and the bad memories from last year
Happy New Year everyone and see you all in 2017!

Norwegian Fjords 2015

A while back I said I would post something about the cruise I went on back in June 2015 but alas nothing was posted - sorry!

As I didn't do anything back then, I thought I would write something about it now as I am on a roll...

Thailand and Vietnam adventure - Chiang Mai

As I write this I am on a sleeper bus to Sapa, Vietnam to explore the rice fields. I felt this was a perfect time to reflect on the first part of my adventure because I do have 6 hours of travelling ahead of me and I can’t sleep!
This adventure was created off the back of wanting to go visit my brother who has lived in Bangkok for the last four years and not once have I made it out here in that time. With his departure from Thailand next year it was the last chance I would have to go. So over a lunch catch up with a friend I mentioned my plan and before the day was up she had already started looking into it - I had not actually asked her directly to come but secretly I hoped she would maybe take the hint because I couldn’t have done this without her.
Due to the time of year, weather and my brother’s other plans for his month off we chose to meet up with him in Chiang Mai. His adventure would take him onto Pai and ours would continue to Vietnam and then back to Bangkok to finish.

Day trip to Valletta, Malta

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you will have seen that I have recently been cruising around the Med on board Cunard Queen Victoria, and if not then head over there to catch up.

My first port of call was the stunning Valletta, Malta.

The ship docked early morning, which allowed us to enjoy breakfast with views of Malta's Grand Harbour as the sun rose. It was just a 20 minute walk from the ship to the centre of Velletta but being at sea level there was a long way up to reach the same level as most of the city. Luckily since my last visit 4 years ago, they have installed a lift to take you up to the Botanic Gardens. This is ideal for someone with limited mobility, like my mother.

Once you are at the top of the lift you have more impressive views across the entrance of the Grand Harbour, and if your not scared of heights, unlike me, you can stand at the edge just as you come out of the lift and take in the views below. From here you are on the correct level for the res…
