December Snapshot

Wow, is it really the end of December already!?! This can mean only one thing...my snapshot of December from Instagram and it is the end of 2016!

Look back on 2016

2016 has not been a great year in many respects, it has had a lot of firsts, new chapters, adventures and losses!

For me it started off with the loss of my dear father, which still makes me tear up at the thought of it! While this door closed off a lot of worry, stress, travel back and fourth to Cardiff for hospital visits and most importantly for my mum the taking caring of him, it opened many more challenges and opportunities.

Christmas Prep

Less than a week until Christmas and I still have a lot to prepare...there are the presents and wrapping them, food shopping and house cleaning!

This year we are having my mum down from Cardiff and it means that I have to cook a roast dinner! Please bear in mind that the only other time I have EVER cooked a roast was in January this year, when she came down for her birthday.

Longleat visit 2016

On the 10th December I traveled to Warminster to visit Longleat with a friend, it was a trip organised by work so it meant that we didn't need to drive up ourselves - bonus!

The day started off early, we left Southampton at 9 and arrived just after 10:30. We were going to go around the safari first but as there were queues forming we decided that a walk around the park first.

The Silent Struggle

This post is about a silent struggle many people face - depression!

It is a common mental disorder that causes people to have depressed moods, loss of interest, feelings of guilt, low self-worth and much more. Having suffered with it myself before, I know all to well what it can feel like.

It was in 2009, aged 18, that I started to feel sad and nothing seemed to make me happy, I just put it down to a low mood and thought it would pass. After a while I started to feel very uncomfortable in my own skin in different circumstances, I would prefer to stay at home than go out and see friends and I just shut myself away.

I remember very clearly the day it hit me that there was something very wrong. I was in the changing room getting ready to go out sailing and while standing there in full thermals, trousers, jumpers and full water proofs I had a huge feeling of wanting to hide away. I wanted to curl up and disappear, not see anyone and not be there. I knew this was nothing to with self-conf…
